Analyse bacteriologique de l'eau par mesure potentiometrique de la reduction de l'acide lipoique ArchiMer
Charriere, G; Jouenne, T; Junter, G.
A simple potentiometric technique to detect and enumerate the bio-indicators of water contamination is described. The technique consists in measuring the redox potential of a specific culture medium saturated with oxygen where bacteria are incubated in presence of lipoic acid (LA). These micro-organisms reduce LA to dihydrolipoic acid, giving rise to an important potential drop in the system. This potentiometric "signal" reveals the presence of active metabolic bacteria in the medium. The major assets of potentiometric measurements in presence of LA lies in the reliability and intelligibility of the results (the redox phenomenon being qualitatively and quantitatively studied), associated to a very simple technology. Futhermore, this technique is perfectly...

Electrochemical attributes of water from Cerrado wetlands (Veredas), Triângulo Mineiro region, Brazil Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Nascimento,Diogo Costa; Berbert,Carolina Prado; Ribeiro,Bruno Teixeira.
ABSTRACT Veredas are wetlands typically found in the Brazilian Cerrado playing important environmental functions. The hydromorphic conditions control important processes and reactions occurring in these environments. The objective of this study was to assess the pH, redox potential (Eh), and electrolytic conductivity (EC) of water from five veredas located in the Triângulo Mineiro region, nearby Uberlândia and Uberaba, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The pH and EC of water samples (in triplicate) collected in different positions (upper, middle and bottom) of the selected wetlands were monitored monthly from September 2014 to September 2015. Eh was monitored in an incubation experiment using soil samples from the superficial layer (0-20 cm) and subsurface...

Estructura del manglar en el Delta exterior del Río Magdalena-Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta, una zona tensionada por alteraciones del equilibrio hídrico OceanDocs
Serrano-Díaz, L.A.; Botero, L.; Cardona, P.; Mancera-Pineda, J.E..

Extraction and determination of ascorbate and dehydroascorbate from apoplastic fluid of stem of rooted and non-rooted cuttings in relation to the rhizogenesis Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Zuffellato-Ribas,Katia Christina; Morini,Stefano; Picciarelli,Piero; Mignolli,Francesco.
Starting from semihardwood branches of peach and plum rootstocks (Prunus cerasifera E.) cv. MRS2/5, plum rootstocks (Prunus cerasifera × P. salicina) × (P. cerasifera × P. persica) cv. Ishtarà and olive tree (Olea europaea L.) cv. Frantoio, cuttings were collected and treated with 0 mg.L-1 and 2500 mg.L-1 of indolebutyric acid (IBA) by immersion in the base of the cuttings. After 60 days of planting, the cultivars MRS 2/5, Ishtarà and Frantoio presented a significative difference with relation to the rooting induction by application of the indolebutyric acid (27.5, 47.5 and 41.25 %, respectively), inducing a higher number of roots per cutting without at the same time significantly increasing the length of the roots themselves. The levels of ascorbate and...

Manganese accumulation and its relation to "eucalyptus shoot blight in the Vale do Rio Doce" Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Leite,Fernando Palha; Novais,Roberto Ferreira; Silva,Ivo Ribeiro; Barros,Nairam Félix; Neves,Júlio César Lima; Medeiros,Alex Giovanny B.; Ventrella,Marília Contin; Villani,Ecila Mercês de Albuquerque.
Eucalyptus Shoot Blight in the Vale do Rio Doce (ESBVRD) is an anomaly that leads to reduced growth and, in more extreme cases, to death of eucalyptus plants. Initially diagnosed in plantations in the region of the Vale do Rio Doce, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, this problem has also been found in plantations in other regions of the country and even in other countries. Although the symptoms of this anomaly are well-known, its causes are not yet understood. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cause-effect relationship between accumulation of manganese (Mn) in eucalyptus clones and ESBVRD. Characterization of the environment in areas of greater occurrence of this problem in regard to soil, climate and fluctuation of the water table was...

Methane efflux in rice paddy field under different irrigation managements Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Moterle,Diovane Freire; Silva,Leandro Souza da; Moro,Vagner João; Bayer,Cimélio; Zschornack,Tiago; Avila,Luis Antonio de; Bundt,Ângela da Cas.
Paddy rice fields may contribute to methane (CH4) emission from soil due to anaerobic conditions after flooding. Alternatives to continuous flooding irrigation in rice have been developed to mitigate CH4 efflux into the atmosphere. This study aims to investigate the effects of irrigation managements in the CH4 efflux during the rice growing season. An experiment was carried out at in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, during 2007/08 and 2009/10 growing seasons. The treatments were continuous flooding and intermittent irrigation in 2007/08 and continuous flooding, intermittent irrigation and flush irrigation in 2009/10. Intermittent irrigation is effective in mitigating CH4 efflux from rice fields when climatic conditions enable water absence...
